Many headaches don’t begin in the head.
The neck, jaw, upper back, nervous system and even the way we breathe can all contribute to recurring headaches. Our role is to understand how your body is influencing your symptoms and create a personalised plan that helps you move with more confidence and less fear.
You might recognise. . .
You don’t need to know whether your symptoms are muscular, joint-related or nerve-related before booking. Understanding the likely contributors is part of your assessment.
Not every headache originates from the muscle or joints. During your assessment we'll first determine whether physiotherapy is appropriate or whether you would benefit from medical investigation.
Several factors can build together over time, making headaches more frequent and harder to shift.
Restricted joints
Poor movement
Muscle overactivity
Clenching
Grinding
TMJ dysfunction
Stress
Poor sleep
Persistent pain sensitivity
Desk work
Posture
Breathing
Recovery
When several of these factors build together over time, the nervous system can become increasingly sensitive. Rather than chasing one “tight muscle”, we work to understand everything that’s feeding into your symptoms.
Every headache is different.
That’s why we assess the whole picture.
To improve movement, reduce muscle guarding and help sensitive tissues feel safer to move again.
Building strength, endurance and confidence so your neck and shoulders can cope with everyday life.
Where appropriate, helping reduce unnecessary muscle tension and improve jaw function.
Helping you understand why symptoms occur and what you can do when they begin.
Sometimes the goal isn't simply relaxing muscles. It's helping an overprotective nervous system feel safe enough to shop producing pain so easily.
Headaches become easier to trigger.
Breaking this cycle often means treating several pieces together rather than relying on pain relief alone.
The neck influences the jaw.
The jaw influences the muscles around the temples.
Breathing changes shoulder tension
Stress changes muscle activity.
Poor sleep increases pain sensitivity.
Everything is connected. By understanding these relationships we can build a treatment plan that support your whole body-not just your headache.
Seek urgent medical attention if your headache.

I was getting pain in my back every single day!! Ended up getting a physio course with Jen and it has completely transformed my life, I can now run pain free, weight lift and do everything I didn’t expect I could do with no pain at all :) Jen has been so helpful and supportive with my treatment, she really tailors the experience to you and prioritised getting me back and active again while also teaching me exercises and techniques which would help me in the long term. Honestly couldnt recommend more, and to top it off the studio is gorgeous and the classes are great too!!!Posted on Gemma WatkissTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. When I enquired about joining pilates here I was worried as I have Cauda Equina. There was no need to worry as the staff are highly educated in all areas. I was advised to see the physiotherapist who again had the best knowledge. She assessed me and put me in the right direction for me to exercise. Thank you all so much and not forgetting furry ones with 4 legs so lovely their dogs come to work. XxPosted on Emerly ThinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I absolutely love this reformer Pilates studio. The classes are welcoming, well-structured and always leave me feeling stronger and energised. I’ve had classes so far with Jennifer, Anna, and Sarah, and they are all so lovely, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I’d highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a supportive and enjoyable reformer Pilates experience.Posted on Chloe BreezeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The women at Pivot Therapies are truly amazing! Welcoming, warm, friendly and so knowledgeable. They put you at ease and explain things in detail to help you understand any pain you experience, why you may be experiencing it and what they can do to help. I have been going to them for a few months now and can tell SUCH a difference, life changing! Thank you Ladies - ChloePosted on Michael LewisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I signed up initially for a Beginner Reformer Pilates class. I’m in my late 50s and although I’m in reasonable condition for a bloke of my age, and run a bit, I’m not very flexible and my balance could improve (a lot as I discovered when doing some of the exercises). I was a bit concerned that I’d be the only bloke and the oldest in the class. I was right although I need not have worried. I was made very welcome by all. It was challenging although fun and Leah has applied the right balance of encouragement and discipline and every class is different so you work different parts of the body. I realised I should have probably started with pilates matwork (after nearly strangling myself on the reformer machine much to the initial shock and then amusement of all) so also signed up for a Matwork Foundations class which added a further dimension. I'm now on to Reformer Improver classes. Bendiness and balance are both improving – noticeably –it’s amazing what a difference there is between when I started and now – I can nearly touch my toes now (this being an ultimate goal/ one of my key success indicators) – so there’s more scope for improvement - hopefully I can keep it going. I reckon it will help with the running too and keep me active for longer in the long run. Thanks very much for the support and enjoyable classes.Posted on Irum ManirTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really enjoyed. Excellent pace.Posted on Lucy LeakTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I completed the 6 week foundation pilates course with Leah and I loved it! Gorgeous studio and I felt very comfortable - the feedback was really helpful and encouraging. As a complete beginner I have left with a much better understanding of pilates and will definitely be returning for classes. Thank you Leah! :)Posted on raghad aldaihaniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The studio is the best! Special shoutout to Leah—she’s an amazing instructor!Posted on The Quarter HanleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve been seeing Leah for the past six months, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. From the very beginning, she really took the time to listen and understand my daughter’s needs. With years of gymnastics behind her, my daughter had a variety of recurring injuries, but Leah’s knowledge and thoughtful approach made a huge difference. The personalised programme she created has helped dramatically – my daughter is stronger, more confident, and moving better than she has in a long time. The follow-up emails with exercises were clear, practical, and really helpful for keeping things on track at home. What impressed me most is that my daughter genuinely looked forward to her physio sessions each week – not always easy with a teenager! Leah has a fantastic way with young people, striking the right balance between professional care and friendly support. Highly recommended for anyone, but especially for active teens dealing with sports-related injuries.Posted on Tanya DarbyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve absolutely loved taking part in mat Pilates and yoga classes at Pivot. Jen, Leah and Emily are all so kind and encouraging and studio feels warm and inviting to everyone of different abilities. I can’t wait to explore more classes and see how much more I can improve 🥰
